ALL SHOOK DOWN MUSIC FEST

SF Weekly's All Shook Down blog just announced their first music festival that will be happening on Sunday July 25th in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood. The setup will have an outdoor stage and then there will be bands playing in nearby venues and bars as well. Word has it that there will be lots of beer and one can only assume that there will be plenty of local breweries that will have their stuff for sale. 18 bands have been announced so far and there are more to come, we'll highlight a couple of our favorites to check out.

If Janelle MonĂ¡e performs anything like she does in this video, it should be an exciting show. She's got the dance moves of James Brown and the style of Andre 3000 with howling vocals to boot. She's playing an instore performance at Rasputin's Berkeley store and opening for Erykah Badu at Oakland's Paramount Theatre if you want to catch a sneak peak before she headlines San Francisco.

Fresh off tour with it winding up at a music festival at a winery in Sonoma, Citay are one of San Francisco's hidden gems. They have a mix of angelic vocals with heavy guitar riffs mixed in with acoustic guitar. Sounds like it should be one of the most confusing bands to see live, but they manage to pull it off.

Neon Indian are the other headliner as well, but you already knew that. Tickets are incredibly priced at $8 each and there are going to be VIP tickets available soon for $40. Head on over here to get tickets.
