This past Friday, April 13th -an unassuming BBQ joint in Seattle called Floyd's Place, suddenly became the new go-to spot in FYM's HQ neighborhood of Lower Queen Anne to check out live music. Floyd's game plan as a venue is simple -host FREE concerts with impressive local/regional bands on the weekends, bring in business via food/drink sales, and at the end of the night pay their musicians properly. -The tall ceilings, excellent service, deep bar-space and solid sound system makes Floyd's an inviting place to host live performances.
Friday night did indeed feel like a true neighborhood event. Local wild-man and lead vocalist Chris Morrison -of POUND POUND POUND opened up the evening with a lengthy set devoted to the bands signature hard rock sound with aggressive manic vibes throughout.
Up next- Queen Anne favorites SHAKIN MICHAEL J pulled together a brilliant retrospective show, playing a 20+ song set, encompassing the entire bicoastal, 5-year history of the band. {Pictured Above: Brian Fernandes (left) with ex-lead singer 'Yella' (right) performing live together for the first time in almost a year}
As shown above in the LIVE footage FYM took of SMJ's tongue-in-cheek classic 'Hippies Ruined Girls & Reggae' -on that night, the band and the fans, merged into a single unifying stage entity.
A special thanks goes out to Floyd's, ###, SMJ, and all of our Lower Queen Anne Social Club friends for making a superstitious evening turn into magical night of community, music and FREE live entertainment. Cheers, FYM.
